Winter 2009
Welcome to the wonderful and often challenging inner & outer climates of the Winter season.
We are in it together!
I am brewing some wonderful classes for you that best support the particular needs of this interesting time.
Please check this section regularly for workshop announcements, as well. Workshops are a fantastic opportunity to deepen and lengthen your practice, as well as share in a community of like-minded pals on the path.
As well as continuing to offer 2 weekly classes in our hood, at the Hatha Yoga Mile End space, I am also thrilled to announce that I am now offering 2 classes at Studio Bliss on the plateau. You can find me there on:
Wednesday: 6:30-7:45pm: Open-level
Thursday: 4:45-6pm: Beginner
They are re-defining their whole yoga paradigm over there, with great promise, and as such I may begin to teach there even more frequently! It is a wonderful place. Very good people. I highly welcome you to come check it out. Please also check out their website
What else?
I have been invited to teach another "Soham Mela" (special class) at Soham Yoga, another delightful little yoga hide-a-way in Villeray. Soham Yoga is at 306 Rue Villeray, and the class will take place on Wednesday, Feb 18, 8-9:30pm, the theme will be: Backbends & Metta Meditation.
Melanie Chevarie & I will be beginning to offer our Yin/Yang Yoga & Meditation workshops this season, so check back for more info on that as well!
I hope you are feeling well and finding some ease in this season and in this delicate moment in our history. Stay close to yourselves and each other.
Metta,
Leah

Class Descriptions
Although both classes are open-level, there are slight differences between them:
Monday Evening: Pure Perspective Potion
Put worry in its place. Get grounded and balanced right at the start of the week. A Hatha Class in the Kripalu tradition. Mini-spot-check-posture-clinics offer instruction and clarity in all of the basic standing postures, forward and backbends, twists and beginner pranayama (yogic breathing). Students learn to be open, present and compassionate toward their direct moment-to-moment experience. Fun and deeply renewing. I have often heard news of blissed-out peaceful yogis floating themselves back home after this class, ready to move through the work-week with some real grace and perspective.
Saturday Morning: The Multi-Vitamin
A healthy dose of all you need. Taking time to gather and practice all the tools. This gorgeous Saturday a.m. class offers a nice open-level-intensity asana practice, including pranayama (yogic breathing). Participants are also exposed to smidgens of accessible instruction in both walking and sitting meditation in the vipassana tradition, as well as metta (lovingkindness meditation). Have fun and evolve, all at the same time! Heart-warming & balancing. Go to brunch with a clear mind and an open heart.
*I am happy to announce that this class will be taught on an alternating basis by myself by a dear friend and colleague, Angela Chiarella. A highly qualified yoga teacher, Angela is also a certified meditation facilitator, taught by the very wonderful Noah Levine, in the Vipassana tradition. Angela is co-founder of the Montreal chapter of Dharma Punx. I know her classes will be fantastic.

Workshops
Yin/Yang Workshops
A delightful combination practice of Yin, and Yang (or "Flow") practices, with a bit of pranayama, mantra & mindfulness meditation to make the whole thing delightfully divine. Previous experience in Yin or meditation is not necessary. One year minimum of regular asana practice is a requirement.
The Yin component:
A wonderful and perfect complement to any Yang or Flow practice. The Yin session will infuse your practice with present, moment-to-moment awareness. Long, passively held postures in the Yin style will release deep-seated tension, lubricate the joints and vastly improve the circulation of Life-force energy (prana, or Qi) throughout the physical, and subtle bodies. Learn to relax the impulse to "effort" in the poses: turn the corner into the Yin aspect and move toward the deep wellness practices of inhabiting, integration and embodiment.
The Yang or "Flow" component:
An inspired Hatha session in the Kripalu tradition. Beginner-to-Moderate intensity.
Emphasis on Pranayama (yogic breathing)
Within the framework of a grounding and
balancing asana
session, this 2-hour-long
workshop will make accessible
and deepen
our understanding of several wonderful
and
very practical pranayama techniques.
Looking forward to sharing these practices with you. Please check back regularly for on-going information on locations, times etc.
